  • a solo presentation of Kavochy, who's recent work lies in collection and collaging of materials such as recycle paper, carpets, used clothes among others.

“For me, it's interesting for an observation. It brings out those textures of old archived things, or forms.

When I collect carpets, it tells a story that I can mend. In my head it gives me, the idea that, this carpet is in this room, people have lived in this room, stepping in and out. Leaving stamps of their stories, their memories. Some carpets have these flower patterns like the photo frames. Like a threshold. I'm still on these thoughts of doing a work about a photo album. Many carpets have patterns like these. it's like a reference of what I'm trying to speak about.

I collect plastic carpets when they're being thrown and when I collage, it's like I'm seeing the back and front of every family. Mending the carpets and creating that collage, and it's like putting it together to tell a story of back and front. I use carpets as a choice of materials and newspapers. To me newspapers tells stories about people, news, archives. That's where you'll find all the information, it is like a passage of time.”
