This play allows difficult situations and predicaments within an African family dynamic, to seep into the forefront as Malinda entertainingly discusses the repercussions of trauma as they occur in a Kenyan work environment. An in-depth experiential analysis of black identity ensues as 21st Century [racist] happenings inspire the dialogue woven through the advantageous allegorical stance of global literature.
This play is to be seen and read more than once. There is lots to unpack – as the title suggests. Within the context in which the U.S.A. exhibits fanatical divisiveness today, this play provides the audience ample opportunity to reflect on which way next, to turn.
